  I've come here primarily for dim sum and it always meets my expectation. Restaurant gets extremely busy on the weekend and there is usually a wait, even for 2 people. My boyfriend was just introduced to dim sum this year and he'll now occasionally ask to come to this place when he's craving it!
  
  Spacious area, large assortment and mid-range price. It's order off the sheet (no carts) and well staffed in the morning.
  
  My favourite dishes:
  - Deep fried taro with pork and shrimp dumpling
  - Baked BBQ Pork Pies
  - Kabocha with Corn & Mushroom Congee
  - Chinese Doughnut
  - Salted & Pepper Fried Silver Fish with Golden Garlic
  
  A tip for newbies, the proper way to eat dim sum is to make reservations early and go with a big group of family and friends. That way, you'll take be able to try an assortment of dishes and decide which is your absolutely staple.
  
  Worth trying in my book!

  This is our goto dim sum place in Coquitlam.  Have been coming here for years now and it has never disappointed.
  
  Prior this was the Kirin Restaurant which also served dim sum with XO sauce. Since five years or, it has been renamed to Grand Palace, I noticed there has been "subtle" changes to the recipes/menu. The taste and offerings have been steadily changing. Some may say it is for good, some may say for the worse. Noticed they dropped fancier sauces for more wholesome "plain" tasting offerings. Perhaps cost cutting perhaps a change of ownership directives. I see it more as apples and oranges as opposed to better or worse.
  
  The positives:
  
  Taste is wholesome and well balanced 9/10 (limited msg)
  Quality of ingredients seems to seep through when less preservatives and sauces are used. 8/10
  
  Portion is very generous. 9/10
  Pricing is reasonable. 9/10
  
  The not so greats:
  
  Ambiance is a typical Chinese restaurant with red wood interior and live seafood tanks in the waiting/reception area.  Some may find such displays not appetizing, but to the no nonsense Chinese, it is what it is.
  
  Due to the sheer size of the place, it must have given a sense of opulence once upon a time 10 years ago. But much of the aesthetics seems dated today. 7/10
  
  Service is touch and go. If you made reservations and are part of a large table; you are most likely going to get a lot of attention from the wait staffs. However if you are a party of 4 or less and failed to book a table, you are likely going to have wait for a long time on weekends. If they do seat you, you will most likely be shoved into a corner next to the bathroom or dishwasher and get ignored for rest of your eating time.  5/10

  Service is terrible - insufficient number of staff n hence, staff are overworked and grumpy and are rude.
  Food is terrible as well, of the 8 dishes of dim sum we ordered, 4 were not hot enough. Not even warm and tasted bland. The fried squid was so oily n cold that we had to asked to send it back n the waiter rudely asked 'so what do u want to do about'. We told them it is cold n oily n it didn't look or taste right. Like it was cooked n prepped the day before. We have ordered same dish elsewhere n it is much more tasty and better.
  
  There are better options out there in the tricities for dim sum for sure. Won't be coming back to this place any time soon.

  I guess for Coquitlam, this place is pretty ok for dim sum or considered one of the better ones there.
  
  It was busy when we were there on a Sunday. The place was huge though so it could accommodate many people. I think they preferred to seat everyone when all in the party arrived so as to do a higher table turnover. We had a reservation which is highly recommended.
  
  The bowl for congee is huge! It could feed 3-4 people easily especially if you are also ordering dim sum items.
  
  The English translation for the rice roll could be better as I read it as there would be vegetables inside the rice roll, particularly for the shrimps (har cheong) and BBQ meat filling. So I ordered something new with mushrooms and cucumber filling. I would stick with the tried and tested though - shrimps all the way.
  
  The skins for the dumplings and rice rolls were not very thin and they were quite sticky. Not the best.
  
  The highlight would be the fried turnip cake and salted egg yolk bun (liu sha bao). It oozed out the golden lava perfectly. Delicious!
  
  I would only come here for dim sum if my Coquitlam friends want to dine here. I would not drive all the way out here for it.

  Good food and service. Has free parking as well. Sunday's are busy and if your hungry check the menu before you come so you can check that shit off right away. Don't make the same mistake my sister and I did by over ordering. Lol  
  
  We tend to eat with our eyes and not with our tummies. Try these items out.
  
  Congee pork and century egg
  Salted egg bun tooo fucking good it's addicting warning ! You will crave for these no joke.
  Egg tarts are always delicious
  The tendon and rice roll and beef brisket was good.
  Anything on our table was awesome!
